Support Education First
The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is calling on companies to make commitments to action that will support his new initiative, Education First.
Education First is a global initiative led by the Secretary-General to ensure that all children and youth have access to a quality, relevant and transformative education. It gathers a broad spectrum of world leaders and advocates who all aspire to use the transformative power of education to build a better future for all.
The Initiative aims to raise the political profile of education, strengthen the global movement to achieve quality education and generate additional and sufficient funding through sustained advocacy efforts. Achieving gains in education will have an impact on all the Millennium Development Goals − from lower child and maternal mortality, to better health, higher incomes and more environmentally sustainable societies.
The Education First initiative has three priority areas:
Priority 1: Put Every Child in School
Priority 2: Improve the Quality of Education
Priority 3: Foster Global Citizenship
Secretary-General’s call for Commitments
The Secretary-General is calling on companies to make commitments to action that will address one or more of the three priority areas of Education First.
All commitments are promises to take action, alone or in partnership, including:
- New projects or partnerships;
- Existing activities that are scaled up or accelerated;
- Adding additional partners to existing projects; or
- Renewal of commitments, if activities to realize these commitments are still ongoing.
This website offers a simple form for companies and private sector organizations to submit their commitment to action in support of Education First. All commitments to action will be reviewed by the United Nations before they are made publically available.
