GC (Global Compact):
Endorse The CEO Water Mandate
Water poses one of the greatest sustainability challenges of the 21st Century. Water scarcity and pollution, among many other issues, threaten our ability to grow strong and stable economies, meet basic human needs, and protect healthy ecosystems (and the services they provide), while also posing severe human health problems.
Launched in July 2007 by the UN Secretary-General, The CEO Water Mandate is a unique public-private initiative designed to assist companies in the development, implementation, and disclosure of water sustainability policies/practices and forge multi-stakeholder partnerships to address the problems of access to water and sanitation.
In order for companies to endorse The CEO Water Mandate:1. The company must be a member of the UN Global Compact, or be committed to join the UN Global Compact within 6 months.
2. The endorsement of The CEO Water Mandate and its 6 key principles must be made by the company CEO, in the form of a letter to: ceowatermandate@unglobalcompact.org.
3. The company must be committed to report on its progress on a yearly basis.
